The most I ran and panicked this school year

On the way to petsmart Greg and I noticed a black lab running down the street with a girl running after it. Greg pulled over and I jumped out chasing it. I don’t know how far I ran but all of the sudden it ran into the street I didn’t see, the cars didn’t see and I hear a loud boom. Oh god. I looked on the street but I didn’t see anything. The car pulled over and I ran to the sidewalk. I found the dog lying scared next to parked cars. I grabbed it and it tried to run. I put all my weight on it and some people came by. Two men, the lady that hit the dog and the owner. The owner was freaking out and she said her and her mom just adopted the dog. They went to petsmart to get it a collar and he got loose. I told her there’s a 24hr pet hospital a few miles away. The lady offered to drive the dog to petsmart in hopes that the clinic was still open. I asked one of the men to hold on to the dog since my weight wasn’t enough if it tried to run away. He grabbed it and I let go. Saw Greg running towards me and I yelled out that it got it. Both out of breath, see tried to talk to everyone and see what she should do. The lady went back with her husband and the girl to get the car. The guy holding down the dog asked Greg if he could hold it. I guess the guy let go before Greg had it and it took off again. Greg ran after it while I ran in front of cars telling them to slow down or stop. Greg chased the dog around the corner. I went to find Greg but no response from him. I decided to walk back to the car and wait with bubbles. The guy drove by and asked where it went. I told him greg was chasing after it still. Then, I saw Greg running from the townhouses telling me it ran across the street. I didn’t see any black figure run in front of me. I gave up and worried about bubbles. Greg ran back to get the car. I told him we can’t do anything because we don’t know where it is and it’s not our dog. We just let go and continued what we were doing before it all happened. At petsmart, Greg went to get a cart. When he returned, he said he ran into the guy in the car. He said the dog was spotted at a nearby park. I had no idea there was a park nearby… We couldn’t catch it and the girl wasn’t at petsmart to get the update. What a sad story :(
